Restylane

Restylane New Orleans

Restylane® is a dermal filler that diminishes moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and folds on the face and neck.

Hyaluronic acid works by providing a framework to the skin by binding collagen and elastin together, then attracting water for an overall anti-aging effect.

Each filler works in a slightly different way to target specific signs of aging, but Restylane smooths lines and depressions, while its sister product, Perlane®, adds volume where it has been lost. Restylane is typically injected more superficially and can be used for non-surgical lip augmentation/lip enhancement for fuller lips, as well as volume replacement in the creases around the mouth and nose. Because Restylane is so soft, it is ideal for placement into the so-called “tear trough” area, which is the crease that goes from your nose under your eye.

Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick are both trained and skilled injectors who use facial fillers both medically and artistically—much like a sculptor—to provide you with a natural, younger look. This requires the ability to determine the best areas for injections and how much filler should be used.

Other facial fillers include Juvederm Voluma®, Perlane®, Radiesse®, and Belotero®. Drs. Velargo and Hendrick may suggest that you use a combination of injectables, including Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, to target more of the lines and wrinkles that are present. If surgery is necessary to achieve the result you want, they might recommend a facelift, neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). Skin resurfacing can also help to smooth certain lines and wrinkles.

What Can Restylane Do?

Restylane is ideal to correct:

  •  Nasolabial folds – the folds that begin at the nose and end at the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines – the lines that begin at the corners of the mouth and end at the bottom of the chin
  • Thin lips, creating natural appearing fuller lips
  • Tear trough area
  • Sagging, wrinkled, or aged earlobes
  • Vertical smoker’s lines above the upper lip

What happens during restylane injection?

A tiny needle is used for the injections, and the procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Lidocaine is included in the injection formula to ease discomfort. Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick also use cool compress anesthesia and acupressure techniques to make the injections as comfortable as possible. If you wish, we will be happy to apply a topical numbing cream before your injections.

If you choose to use the numbing cream, we ask that you arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment so that it has time to take effect. We offer a very comfortable and relaxing “Quiet Room” within the clinic for your enjoyment.

After your injections, you may go home or relax in the Quiet Room for as long as you like.

Results are visible immediately and will continue to improve over the following days as the product attracts water.

You can resume most of your daily activities, including returning to work, immediately after leaving our office following your filler injections. Most patients experience minimal swelling, bruising, and soreness for a few days. Any discoloration can be covered with makeup, and cool compresses can be applied to reduce inflammation. Topical Arnica Montana may also be used to help speed the resolution of any bruising.

Restylane® injections typically last approximately 9 to 12 months, although some individuals may experience longer-lasting results.

Additionally, the product stimulates collagen production in the skin, which means that less filler may be needed to achieve similar results during future maintenance treatments.
