Juvéderm in New Orleans
Juvederm® is a dermal filler that diminishes moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and folds on the face and neck. A smooth gel that glides easily into the skin, this facial filler is made of hyaluronic acid—a carbohydrate that is naturally present in the body.
Hyaluronic acid works by providing a framework to the skin, binding collagen and elastin together, and attracting water for an overall anti-aging effect.
Each filler works in a slightly different way to target specific signs of aging. Juvederm smooths lines and depressions, while its sister product, Juvederm Voluma, adds volume where it has been lost. Juvederm is typically injected more superficially and can be used for non-surgical lip augmentation/lip enhancement to create fuller lips, as well as for volume replacement in the creases around the mouth and nose.
If surgery is necessary to achieve your desired results, they might recommend a facelift, neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). Skin resurfacing can also help smooth certain lines and wrinkles.
Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick are both trained and skilled injectors who use facial fillers both medically and artistically—much like sculptors—to provide you with a natural, more youthful look. This requires the ability to determine the best areas for injections and how much filler should be used.
Other facial fillers include Juvederm Voluma, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse, and Belotero. Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick may suggest using a combination of injectables, including Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®, to address additional lines and wrinkles. If surgery is necessary to achieve your desired results, they might recommend a facelift, neck lift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift). Skin resurfacing can also help smooth certain lines and wrinkles.
Juvéderm Volbella
One of the most alluring and youthful qualities a person can have is a set of full, voluminous lips. Unfortunately, genetics or aging can lead to flat, featureless lips that leave a lot to be desired. Even worse, smoker’s lines, which are the small wrinkles that appear near the mouth, can make you look years older. Although the lips and the area around it are some of the hardest hit by aging, there were not that many options for people to target those specific signs of aging. With the arrival of state-of-the-art dermal filler Juvederm Volbella®, there’s finally a solution for enhancing the lips and treating the wrinkles around the mouth.
As a part of the Juvederm line of advanced dermal fillers, Volbella is a smooth gel made up of Hyaluronic Acid, a sugar naturally found in the body that’s essential for keeping the skin nourished and hydrated. With a few injections, Volbella can create natural-looking volume in the lips and smooth out fine, delicate wrinkles like ones around the mouth. Volbella was designed using the patented Vycross technology, which creates a blend of Hyaluronic Acid with different molecular weights. It’s a combination of a lower hyaluronic acid concentration and its Vycross formulation that gives the gel a softer structure while allowing it to retain the long-lasting qualities of Juvederm dermal fillers.
Juvéderm Volbella Benefits
Thanks to its soft yet durable gel, Volbella creates the subtle, natural results that make it the perfect treatment for delicate areas like the lips. Those seeking natural, perfectly balanced enhancement will find the perfect treatment in Juvederm Volbella. Smoker’s lines, also known as lipstick lines, require an unbelievably precise treatment in order to prevent the upper lips from looking unnaturally full and projecting too much. With Volbella’s soft and smooth gel, patients can smooth out these wrinkles while attaining an upper lip that looks and moves naturally. Volbella can also do more than provide a simple increase in volume: it can also enhance and define the shape or the lips into a more alluring shape. By enhancing your cupid’s bow, Volbella can create a more alluring contour to the lips.
Juvéderm Volbella Recovery
Juvederm Volbella is done in an incredibly quick and simple treatment that requires only a few, strategically placed injections. The needle used is incredibly small, and most patients report feeling minimal amounts of discomfort. Since Volbella is a nonsurgical treatment, there’s no downtime or recovery period required. However, it is highly recommended that patients avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun exposure, and alcohol use for the first 24 hours after the procedure.

Dermal Filler FAQs in New Orleans
Juvéderm FAQS
What can Juvéderm treat?
Juvederm is ideal to correct:
- Nasolabial folds – the folds that begin at the nose and end at the corners of the mouth
- Marionette lines – the lines that begin at the corners of the mouth and end at the bottom of the chin
- Thin lips, creating natural-appearing fuller lips
- Sagging, wrinkled, or aged earlobes
- Vertical smoker’s lines above the upper lip
What happens during Juvéderm injection?
A tiny needle is used for the injections, and the procedure takes less than 30 minutes. Lidocaine is included in the injection formula to help ease discomfort. Dr. Velargo and Dr. Hendrick utilize cool compresses and acupressure techniques to make the injections as comfortable as possible. If you wish, we are happy to apply a topical numbing cream before your injections. If you would like the numbing cream, we ask that you arrive approximately 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow it to take effect. We also offer a very comfortable and relaxing “Quiet Room” within the clinic for your enjoyment.
After your injections, you may go home or relax in the Quiet Room for as long as you wish.
Results are visible immediately and will continue to improve over the following days as the product attracts water.
What can I expect during Juvéderm recovery?
You can resume most of your normal activities, including returning to work, immediately after leaving our office following filler injections. Most patients experience minimal swelling, bruising, and soreness for a few days. You can cover any discoloration with makeup, apply cool compresses to reduce inflammation, and use topical Arnica Montana to speed the resorption of any bruising.
How long does Juvéderm last?
Juvederm injections last approximately 9-12 months, although some people have seen the results last longer.
In any case, the product stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, so less product may be needed for a similar result in subsequent maintenance injections.
