Dr. Hendrick then removes the old implant and possibly the capsule surrounding the implant. Dr. Hendrick may be required to reshape the breast pocket for better positioning of the new implant. In some cases, it may be recommended to remove the implant temporarily to allow healing of the previous breast pocket with the placement of a new implant after several weeks. After the new implant is placed the incisions are sutured closed, bandages are applied followed by a surgical bra to maintain the position of the new implants.
