Nano‑Fat Grafting

Nano‑Fat Grafting in New Orleans

Patients who want to reverse the effects of aging without resorting to surgery are constantly seeking treatments that are safe and effective.

Louisiana residents now have a ground-breaking, minimally invasive procedure that is highly effective in restoring a youthful appearance. Nano-fat grafting involves removing fat from the patient’s body, filtering and emulsifying it, and delivering it to treatment areas that have lost volume and exhibit poor skin quality. This transfer is effective in reducing volume loss, under-eye bags, facial wrinkles and fine lines, among other cosmetic improvements. Because nano-fat grafting uses the patient’s natural tissue, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. Also, because the emulsified fat is natural and contains stem cells and growth factors, the results are longer lasting than traditional non-surgical procedures.

What Is Nano-Fat Grafting?

Nano-fat grafting is a refined aesthetic use of fat transfer, where a relatively small amount of fat is removed from a donor site, filtered and emulsified, and then injected into target areas that need cosmetic help. The term nano refers to the tiny particles of fat which are emulsified and delivered to the treatment area to reduce volume loss, wrinkles, and fine lines. Nano-fat differs from traditional fat in that all the fat cells are filtered out, limiting the risk of unpredictable fat take and lumps/bumps.

The procedure is a convenient treatment that uses a cannula and needle to deliver a precise injection of natural nano-fat to the treatment area. It is most commonly performed in conjunction with facelift surgery but can also be performed alone.

First, nano-fat grafting utilizes liposuction to extract autologous (patient’s own) fat from a selected donor site like the buttocks, thighs, abdomen, or love handles. Next, we filter and emulsify these fat cells to isolate the high-quality growth factors and stem cells present. Next, it is mixed with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF). What’s left is a golden emulsion of liquid fat, PRF, growth factors, and stem cells. Lastly, we inject these cells into the treatment area to provide collagen stimulation and improved tissue quality within the living tissue.

Am I a Candidate for Nano-Fat Grafting in New Orleans?

Suitable candidates for nano-fat grafting include patients who wish to resolve:

  • Under-eye hollows
  • Poor skin quality
  • Fine lines & Wrinkles
  • Areas of volume deficiency

Where Are the Most Common Nano-Fat Grafting Treatment Sites?

Most common sites for nano-fat grafting include the temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, lips and lines around the mouth, under-eyes, and hands. The goal in each area is to reverse the effects of aging by improving skin quality, increasing volume, and eliminating wrinkles, lines, or scarring. Because nano-fat grafting stimulates new collagen growth, the results are permanent in the sense that you’ll always retain the benefits of this collagen, but you will continue to age. Nano-fat, unlike traditional micro-fat injections does not result in permanent fat growth in the treated areas because all live fat cells are removed in nano-fat grafting. Nano-fat relies on growth factors, stem cells, and fibrin collagen matrix to achieve its long-term results.

What to Expect with Nano-Fat Grafting in New Orleans

Nano-fat grafting improvements include resolving facial blemishes including depressions, acne scarring, sunken cheeks, undereye hollows, and thin lips. The treatment itself is not only effective but safe and cost-effective. Results vary from patient to patient and depend on how much fat survives the transfer process. However, we have seen amazing results on the neck, hands, chest, and face.

Often, this treatment can be combined with traditional micro-fat grafting where the fat is not emulsified and is used for volume purposes. Using the patient’s own fat, instead of a synthetic filler, yields longer-lasting results because the fat cells which survive will live in the treatment area. Unlike dermal fillers, this volume enhancement treatment can provide permanent results and eliminate the need for touch up appointments in the future.

Nano-Fat Grafting FAQs

How is fat extracted from the donor site?

Liposuction removes target fat which we use to help resolve aesthetic issues in certain areas of the face. Once this fat extraction is complete, it is carefully processed to ensure successful grafting.

A special device known as a cannula (or even a tiny needle in some cases) is used to treated fat through tiny injections to improve skin quality and boost volume (if micro-fat grafting is used). This delivers the best results and effectively addresses issues like wrinkles, fine lines, scarring, and hollows.

In most cases, nano-fat is only done once in conjunction with aging face surgery; however, we may perform other adjacent procedures to help you achieve your goals. This may include surgery, PRP/PRF treatments, additional injections to help in volumizing deficient areas, or treatments to help maximize skin quality.

To learn if this procedure is the best option to address your concerns, schedule a consultation at New Orleans Center for Aesthetics and Plastic Surgery today.

During your consultation process, we may suggest other procedures to enhance your appearance in time for the holiday season. These include non-surgical treatments like Botox, dermal fillers, face or neck lift, laser skin resurfacing, or chemical peels.
